National Photography Competition

Organisers of the Summits for Ed tribute tour offered a prize pool of $5000 for the best photographs from any climb event around the country.

The photographs were judged by top media experts including picture editors John Sefton of the NZ Herald, Mark Round of the Dominion Post, and NZPA photographer Ross Setford.

Overall winner: Peter Drury/Waikato Times

Runners-up: Mark McKeown and Claire De Barr/Bay of Plenty Times
