Join staff from Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Alpine Clubs and the Department of Conservation for a climb to the crater of Mount Ruapehu.

This will be the final climb in the "Summits for Ed" programme to commemorate the life and work of Sir Edmund Hillary.

Climbers will be able to ride the chairlift to Knoll Ridge Cafe compliments of Ruapehu Alpine Lifts. The climb will be followed with a complimentary cup of tea at Knoll Ridge Cafe at 2.30pm.

Whakapapa Visitor Centre will have a sausage sizzle and showing of Sir Ed’s adventures in the auditorium at 3.15pm.

Please note: This is not a guided climb. You are responsible for your own safety and equipment.

Wet weather alternative is a climb to the top of Meads Wall, same time and place.
